Init7 internet: fast, reliable Swiss internet without overpaying

Init7 is one of the internet providers I find easiest to recommend in Switzerland, especially if you care about speed, reliability, and value for money more than flashy bundle marketing.

I personally use Easy7 at home, and for my needs it has been excellent. With a fiber connection, Easy7 gives me 1/1 Gbit/sec download and upload, which is more than enough for streaming, gaming, smart home devices, video calls, cloud backups, and normal daily use.

What I like most is simple: it works. I have never had a problem with reliability, and I do not feel like I am paying Swiss premium prices just to get a stable home connection.

Since moving from Italy to Switzerland in 2022, I have become much more careful about recurring costs. Internet is one of those bills you pay every month, so a good provider should be fast, stable, fairly priced, and easy to understand. For me, Init7 fits that mindset very well.

What is Init7?

Init7 is a Swiss internet provider offering private-customer internet plans such as Easy7, Fiber7, Crossover7, Hybrid7 and Copper7. Its offer is built around fast, symmetrical internet, especially on fiber, and customers can check availability directly through its online Fiber Optic Check.

The main appeal is that Init7 does not try to force everyone into the same bundle. You can choose a simple plan if you just want reliable internet, or you can move up to a more powerful setup if you want more bandwidth, TV, fixed IPv4 options, or your own router.

That flexibility matters. A single person in a small apartment does not need the same setup as a family with several gamers, 4K streaming, smart home devices, NAS storage, and heavy cloud usage.

Why I like Easy7

Easy7 is the plan I use personally, and I think it is the sweet spot for many normal households.

With fiber, Easy7 offers 1/1 Gbit/sec download and upload, includes a loan router, costs CHF 44/month with annual billing, and has a CHF 77 setup fee. It also includes a static /56 IPv6 network. If you mainly stream, browse, game, work from home, use smart home devices, and back up files, Easy7 is likely more than enough.

Here is the practical difference between the most popular plans:

PlanBest ForSpeed & FeaturesPricing
Easy7Standard households, streaming1/1 Gbit/s, loan router, Zatoo TV optional, no fixed IPv4From CHF 44/month (annual billing)
Fiber7Power users, customization1/1, 10/10, or 25/25 Gbit/s, TV7, own router, fixed IPv4 optionalFrom CHF 64.75/month (annual billing)
Crossover7, Hybrid7, Copper7Non-fiber homes, flexibilityUp to 1 Gbit/s, fiber/copper/DSL mix, TV7 optionalFrom CHF 64.75/month (annual billing)

Easy7 includes a loan router, has no TV7, no fixed IPv4 and no free router choice, while Fiber7 offers 1/1, 10/10 or 25/25 Gbit/sec, includes TV7, allows free router choice, and supports fixed IPv4 options for an extra charge.

The Init7 referral deal

New eligible Init7 customers can currently receive a CHF 111 discount on hardware when ordering with a referral code. Init7’s terms say the code must be entered during the order, the customer must be new or not have had Init7 internet in the last three years, and the discount applies to hardware orders for Fiber7, Crossover7, Hybrid7 and Copper7. If no hardware is ordered, or if the router is a free loan device, the discount expires.

This is important because Easy7 already includes a loan router, so the CHF 111 referral benefit may not reduce your Easy7 hardware cost. The deal is most useful if you choose an eligible Init7 plan and buy hardware from Init7.

Why Init7 stands out compared with alternatives in Switzerland

The Swiss internet market has good options, but Init7 is attractive because it combines fair pricing with serious performance.

Easy7 at CHF 44/month with annual billing is cheaper than many mainstream 1 Gbit/s offers, while still giving symmetrical fiber speed where available. Fiber7 is more expensive than Easy7, but it gives up to 10/10 or 25/25 Gbit/sec depending on the chosen setup, includes TV7, and keeps the same CHF 64.75/month annual-billing price listed by Init7.

By comparison, Swisscom’s blue Internet L lists 10 Gbit/s maximum upload/download at CHF 49.90/month for 12 months and then CHF 91.80/month. Sunrise has also announced price changes for several internet plans from 1 August 2026, with examples such as Up Connect L moving from CHF 81.30 to CHF 82.80 and Easy Internet moving from CHF 49.90 to CHF 51.40.

That does not mean Init7 is always the cheapest provider in every case. But Init7’s advantage is the combination of price, transparency, strong technical setup, and a reputation for quality. In the 2025 BILANZ Telecom Rating, Init7 was again ranked at the top among private-customer internet providers, and Init7 also says it has received first place in that category for eight consecutive years.

The main advantages

The biggest reasons I like Init7 are practical:

  • Strong value for money: Easy7 gives a fast 1/1 Gbit/sec fiber connection at a relatively low monthly price.
  • Excellent everyday performance: for streaming, gaming, smart home devices and home office use, my Easy7 connection has been extremely reliable.
  • Good upload speed: symmetrical upload/download is useful for cloud backups, video calls, sending large files, and modern home use.
  • Plan flexibility: you can start simple with Easy7 or move to Fiber7 if you want more bandwidth and more technical freedom.
  • TV options: Fiber7 includes TV7 with 200 channels, while Easy7 can be combined with Zattoo Home options at special Init7 customer pricing.
  • Online availability check: before ordering, you can check whether your home is covered by fiber directly through Init7’s Fiber Optic Check.

What to consider before choosing Init7

Init7 is excellent, but the best plan depends on your home and your needs.

If you want the simplest and cheapest Init7 fiber option, Easy7 is the plan I would look at first. It is clean, fast, and practical. But it is not the most flexible option technically. You cannot choose your own router, fixed IPv4 is not available, port forwarding is not possible, and TV7 is not included.

If you want more control, Fiber7 is more attractive. It costs more than Easy7, but you get TV7 included, router freedom, fixed IPv4 options at extra cost, and much higher bandwidth options. Fiber7 also includes a static IPv6 /48 network for free.

Availability is another point. Fiber is not available everywhere, and the best Init7 product for you depends on your address. That is why I would start with the online fiber check before comparing plans too seriously.

Final thoughts: why I recommend Init7

Init7 is a strong choice if you want fast, reliable Swiss internet without feeling locked into an overpriced bundle.

For most people, I think Easy7 is the best starting point. It is affordable, simple, fast, and in my personal experience extremely reliable. With 1/1 Gbit/sec on fiber, it easily covers streaming, gaming, smart home devices, video calls, and normal household use.

For heavier users, Fiber7 is the more powerful option. It gives you more bandwidth, TV7 included, router freedom, and more technical flexibility. That makes it especially interesting if you are a gamer, power user, home-lab person, or family with many connected devices.

The smart move is to check your address first, choose the plan that matches your actual needs, and then use the referral code during the order if you are buying eligible Init7 hardware. The CHF 111 hardware discount is not useful in every situation, especially if you choose a plan with free loan hardware, but it can be a nice benefit when you order an eligible plan and hardware from Init7.

If your home is covered and you want a reliable connection at a fair Swiss price, Init7 is absolutely worth considering. Start with Easy7 if you want simple, excellent-value internet, or choose Fiber7 if you want more bandwidth, TV, and customization. Either way, Init7 is one of the best internet providers I have found in Switzerland for people who want performance without unnecessary complexity.
